I’m Luving Handy Recovery

A few days ago I was looking for an old image psd file that I designed for a client. I’ve formatted my computer a few times and I think I have not entirely back up my files. The image files must have been deleted. Now my old client is asking me to redesign the work I have done for him using the same image. I thought to myself it would take a week to design the whole work again without the psd. Arghh! I should have kept the image file in external hard disk before formatting my computer. So I went to search for a handy software that could search my accidentally deleted image file. That is when I found Handy Recovery. It is an easy-to-use data recovery software designed to restore files accidentally deleted from your PC. So heck, why not give it a try. Now the problem is it is not freeware. It is priced at $39 for a single user license. You can download a 30-day trial version. Please note that the evaluation version can recover only 1 file per day. So since I was just looking for a psd file, I download and install Handy Recovery.

The process is very easy. Just select the disk you want to scan and click on the search partitions button. You can browse the content of your disk like you do it in Windows Explorer. The only difference is that you see deleted files and folders along with the regular ones. And guess what, I found my psd file, lucky for me it shows probability of successful recovery for each file and my file was good and I could recovered the file! Yahoo..

What I see Handy Recovery can recover files damaged by virus attacks, power failures and software faults or files from deleted and formatted partitions. If some program does not use Recycle Bin when deleting files, Handy Recovery can restore such files. It can also recover files moved to Recycle Bin after it has been emptied. I saw the files which I just deleted from the recycle bin a few weeks ago.

Handy Recovery supports all Windows file systems for hard and floppy drives. It can also recover compressed and encrypted files on NTFS drives.

Features

The key features of Handy Recovery software include

  • FAT12/16/32, NTFS and NTFS 5 + EFS file systems support
  • In-depth disk scanning for certain file types
  • Option to create disk images for deferred recovery
  • Shows probability of successful recovery for each file
  • Recovers files from deleted and formatted partitions
  • File filtering by name, mask, date and size
  • Recovers files deleted without Recycle Bin
  • Restores the structure of deleted folders
  • Explorer-style disk content browser showing deleted files
  • One-click filter button to show only the deleted files

So if you think you have deleted a file accidentally and then realized it to be an important one, just try Handy Recovery.

BigAssFans.com

I received an opportunity to comment on BigAssFans.com. What a cool name. Just check out their website, very cool and cold:)

Anyway if you are looking for a Warehouse Fan, BigAssFans.com is the plase to go.
BigAssFans makes six- to 24-foot diameter ceiling fans. This fan have a low energy usage and the size of these fans allow for large amounts of air to circulate efficiently.
It is ideal for wharehouses, airports and any large room you have, you will
save a lot on bill rather than using an air-conditioner. It’s quite hot here in Malaysia, wish I could have the fan in my small room:)

At last, I signed up for PPP!

I signed up for PPP (Pay Per Post) a few months ago after reading a few blogs and decided to give it a try. Apart from designing I need to find extra income from different sources. I know my website have not get any page rank yet, but I’ve been preparing this blog over six months (you need at least 3 months blog and min of 20 posts to be able to signup PPP). Iwebtool.com predict my future pagerank would be 4, so this something I can’t wait to see soon. The higher your pagerank, the more offers you will get from Pay Per Post.

Before I knew about this method of earning money, I would never have known that one could earn money from writing and posting in their own blogs. So yesterday, after receiving the green light to start earning money by blogging, I saw a few good opportunities already there waiting for me to grab on to it. To say the least, I am hoping that by blogging sponsored posts, I would be able to increase my income online by having other stuffs like products and such to make my blog go round.

Furthermore another benefits of PPP is that I can learn to blog about products and services. This will improve my writing skill and as well as online marketing skill by blogging a product review or introduction.

I do know a few people who blogs sponsored posts and really, I am amazed at the creativity they put into writing those posts. I would have thought that it’s be kind of boring to do this all the time but I guess they know how to pace themselves. Hopefully I can too, though, I have to say that earning money by blogging is just too awesome.

25 Reasons You Might Be A Hardcore Graphic Designer

Haha…got this from cg-files.com, list of signs that you might be a hardcore designer. I don’t consider myself as a hardcore designer but some of these do happened to me.

  1. You’ve almost rear-ended the car in front of you because you were analyzing a font on a billboard.
  2. You get pissed when a free Photoshop brush you download is less than 1000px in size.
  3. You’d rather study the paisley pattern on your boyfriend/girlfriend’s shirt than listen to what he/she has to say.
  4. You can use keyboard shortcuts at light speed, blindfolded, but you can’t type a paragraph of text without staring at the keyboard.
  5. You’ve had “Software Nightmares,” when you’ve been working way too much.
  6. You consider meals interruptions.
  7. You’ve learned your lesson and stopped using the word “final” in any file name when saving.
  8. You clean your keyboard more often than you wash your car.
  9. You’ve intentionally given up trying to explain your projects to non-designers.
  10. You see CMYK and RGB like Neo sees the Matrix.
  11. You’d rather organize your desktop than your sock drawer.
  12. When you heard that Adobe was acquiring Macromedia, you had a Design Orgasm.
  13. When you look at Album art all you see are grunge Photoshop Brushes. (Then you see the album art a couple minutes later)
  14. You’ve Photoshopped out a watermark for a comp or mock-up.
  15. You’ve actually $paid for a font.
  16. You’ve totally slaughtered a great design concept because the client thinks he/she knows best. (everyone thinks they are a designer)
  17. The amount of words you’ve written with a sharpie labeling burned discs total more than the amount of words you’ve read in novels.
  18. You’ve had to explain to a client that a layered file wasn’t part of the deal.
  19. You’ve kept a ragged concert ticket just so you could scan it.
  20. You’ve nicknamed the OSX spinning wheel. (and not affectionately)
  21. You bookmark a resource more often than you have a fun night out on the town.
  22. You’ve intentionally overbid a project because you can sniff out a bad client from a mile away.
  23. You can’t go to a restaurant without secretly critiquing the menu design.
  24. You have an amazingly huge font collection, and an amazingly short temper.
  25. If you had a penny for every mouse click, you would have been a trillionaire 3 years ago

Watch out for a new tutorial soon..

If Architects Had To Work Like Web Designers…

Got this joke from the net about how it would be if architects had to work like web designers:

Dear Mr. Architect:

Please design and build me a house. I am not quite sure of what I need, so you should use your discretion. My house should have somewhere between two and forty-five bedrooms. Just make sure the plans are such that the bedrooms can be easily added or deleted. When you bring the blueprints to me, I will make the final decision of what I want. Also, bring me the cost breakdown for each configuration so that I can arbitrarily pick one.

Keep in mind that the house I ultimately choose must cost less than the one I am currently living in. Make sure, however, that you correct all the deficiencies that exist in my current house (the floor of my kitchen vibrates when I walk across it, and the walls don’t have nearly enough insulation in them).

As you design, also keep in mind that I want to keep yearly maintenance costs as low as possible. This should mean the incorporation of extra-cost features like aluminum, vinyl, or composite siding. (If you choose not to specify aluminum, be prepared to explain your decision in detail.)

Please take care that modern design practices and the latest materials are used in construction of the house, as I want it to be a showplace for the most up-to-date ideas and methods. Be alerted, however, that kitchen should be designed to accommodate, among other things, my 1952 Gibson refrigerator.

To insure that you are building the correct house for our entire family, make certain that you contact each of our children, and also our in-laws. My mother-in-law will have very strong feelings about how the house should be designed, since she visits us at least once a year. Make sure that you weigh all of these options carefully and come to the right decision. I, however, retain the right to overrule any choices that you make.

Please don’t bother me with small details right now. Your job is to develop the overall plans for the house: get the big picture. At this time, for example, it is not appropriate to be choosing the color of the carpet.

However, keep in mind that my wife likes blue.

Also, do not worry at this time about acquiring the resources to build the house itself. Your first priority is to develop detailed plans and specifications. Once I approve these plans, however, I would expect the house to be under roof within 48 hours.

While you are designing this house specifically for me, keep in mind that sooner or later I will have to sell it to someone else. It therefore should have appeal to a wide variety of potential buyers. Please make sure before you finalize the plans that there is a consensus of the population in my area that they like the features this house has. I advise you to run up and look at my neighbor’s house he constructed last year. We like it a great deal. It has many features that we would also like in our new home, particularly the 75-foot swimming pool. With careful engineering, I believe that you can design this into our new house without impacting the final cost.

Please prepare a complete set of blueprints. It is not necessary at this time to do the real design, since they will be used only for construction bids. Be advised, however, that you will be held accountable for any increase of construction costs as a result of later design changes.

You must be thrilled to be working on as an interesting project as this! To be able to use the latest techniques and materials and to be given such freedom in your designs is something that can’t happen very often. Contact me as soon as possible with your complete ideas and plans.

PS: My wife has just told me that she disagrees with many of the instructions I’ve given you in this letter. As architect, it is your responsibility to resolve these differences. I have tried in the past and have been unable to accomplish this. If you can’t handle this responsibility, I will have to find another architect.

PPS: Perhaps what I need is not a house at all, but a travel trailer. Please advise me as soon as possible if this is the case.

Click & Drag The Easy Way

Ok, you download an e-cover action script, load it to your photoshop. You spend 2 hours try to design killer e-cover but all you get is an ugly e-book cover. Well, Max is going to teach you the secret to creating stunning ecovers, he’s also going to give you all the action scripts, ready-to-use graphics and text, ecover samples and much more. You can just click and drag each of these elements into your own designs in second. The result! incredibly professional e-cover that you could create in just 15 second!!

What will you get with the Click and Drag Graphics Package:

1. Starter Templates

These “starter templates” are simple blank templates with a few subtle “effects” that spice them up. Even though these templates are simple, they look very professional with their subtle effects.

You get starter templates for headers in 3 different sizes (650, 700, and 750 pixels wide) and each cover shape (ebook, box, cd, report, ezine, member card, etc.). With all these different variations, you’ll be getting hundreds of templates to choose from.

2. Click And Drag Objects

This module is what makes this package so easy to use and so unique. No other package offers anything like these Click & Drag objects. With these Click & Drag objects you can literally create a professional and eye catching design for your site in minutes.

You get all kinds of Click & Drag objects to choose from like:

Text – already preformatted with the proper font, size, and layer style effects. Just drag it over to your header or cover, change the text to your own product or site name, and you’re done.

Text Bars, Squares, Circles, Stars, and Corners – these are the little shapes that go behind your text to make it stand out more and give it emphasis.

Horizontal Bars – These go across your whole header or cover to divide them into portions or to give that finishing touch.

All of these objects come on their own layers and are completely customizable. So you can resize them, rotate them, change their colors, change the text to what ever text you want, etc.. You can customize them to your liking.

3. Layer Styles

Layer styles add an effect to your layers with one click. So if you want your text to look “cool”, you can add a spicy effect to it by simply clicking on one of the layer styles. Just type your text, click on the layer style button, and your text will get an effect. Max has compiled and created all of the cool text effects you can find on all of the popular designs out there.

4. eCover Action Scripts

Max has recorded the steps he took to turn 2D covers into 3D covers. So all of the distort, resize, and other commands got recorded and can be played back with just a few clicks, and turn a 2D cover into 3D in seconds.

So basically, you start with a blank template or a “starter template. You then create your own design. And finally you play the eCover action of your choice and the cover turns into 3D right before your eyes.

5. Other Templates

In addition to the Starter Templates in Module 1, you will also get templates for all kinds of other mini site graphics like order buttons, footers, backgrounds, and even simple HTML mini site templates. So you’ll be able to create all the graphics for your mini site with the packag.

6. Video Tutorials

This package comes with easy to follow, step-by-step, screen capture video tutorials. Everything is broken down for you in simple terms, so even if you’re a complete newbie you’ll be able to get started right away.

7. Graphics Swipe File

You’ll get over a hundred of Max own favorite designs that he has done for his clients (covers, headers, order buttons, footers, and backgrounds). This swipe file will save you countless hours of frustration and “being stuck” for ideas again.

8. Resources

Max will be sharing with you his favorite design related resources like:

  • Where he get his stock images from.

  • Where he get his fonts.

  • Where he get his ideas for designs.

  • A cool place to get hundreds more layer styles, patters, brushes, textures, and more.

  • And much more…

This resource module will save you hours of trial and error time trying to locate all of these places on your own.

And MORE..

This is a complete design package. I highly recommend for newbies in graphics design to get this package as you can experiment with the graphics, use it in your design and plus, your clients will be impressed;)
